The Hydro Alps Lab is coordinated by the HES-SO Valais-Wallis, the laboratory's academic partner. This organisation is responsible for steering research projects, training activities and strategic initiatives.

  • HEI - HES-SO Valais-Wallis

    HEI - HES-SO Valais-Wallis trains mechanical, electrical and energy engineers in an academic environment rooted in industrial realities. Its hydroelectricity research team brings together interdisciplinary skills in hydraulic machines, mechanics, materials, electrical systems and data analysis. Drawing on state-of-the-art experimental and digital infrastructures, it develops applied research that responds directly to the needs of the field and the hydropower industry.

Alpiq's portfolio of hydroelectric power stations is characterised by flexibility, technological and geographical diversification, and environmental compatibility. Thanks to their cutting-edge technology, these power stations are milestones in Swiss engineering history. Alpiq is constantly optimising its power stations to ensure that water resources are used as efficiently as possible. The company is actively involved in a number of European research projects, contributing to the development of innovative technologies and practices in support of the energy transition.»

  • GMF

    FMV - Forces Motrices Valaisannes is a key partner for hydroelectric schemes in the Valais. Active in the production, transmission and marketing of electricity, as well as in the management of complex systems, FMV's strategic role is being strengthened. With the return of concessions, the company's activities and holdings in Valais facilities are set to grow significantly. FMV's vision is of an integrated Valais hydroelectric plant, conceived as a coordinated system for managing the facilities. While integrating the multiple uses of water, this approach aims to optimise the overall performance and flexibility of the hydroelectric facilities, which are at the heart of the challenges of engineering, Switzerland's security of supply and the energy transition.

  • HYDRO Exploitation

    Hydro Exploitation is a key player in the operation and maintenance of hydroelectric power stations in Valais and French-speaking Switzerland. The company is actively developing predictive maintenance approaches to improve the reliability, availability and performance of hydroelectric schemes. As a key partner in the field, Hydro Exploitation makes its facilities and operational expertise available to test, validate and deploy innovative solutions directly under real operating conditions.

    OIKEN is a major energy player in the Valais, operating a diversified portfolio of large and small hydroelectric power stations throughout the region on a commission basis. The company is actively committed to innovation in order to develop its operating and maintenance methods, in particular to improve the performance and safety of its facilities. As a hands-on partner open to experimentation, OIKEN makes the facilities under its management available to test and validate innovative solutions tailored to the operational realities of this hydroelectric park.
