17.03.26 - Seminar - Prof. Dr. Sébastien Houde

Location: Energypolis, 21,N307

The Hydro Alps Lab is pleased to announce the visit of Prof. Dr. Sébastien Houde, from the HEKI Laboratory - Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory at Laval University (Canada).

📅 Date : 17 March
🕛 Timetable : 12.00 - 12.30 pm
📍 HES-SO Valais 21.N307

🔎 Seminar title

Model-scale studies of off-peak regimes and transients in the hydraulic machinery laboratory at Université Laval

🎓 About Prof. Houde

Professor Houde has more than twenty years' experience in research into hydrodynamics applied to hydraulic turbines, both at Hydro-Québec than the’Laval University.

He is director of the HEKI laboratory: https://heki.fsg.ulaval.ca/en

Its areas of expertise cover :

  • Numerical and experimental hydrodynamics
  • The dynamics of eddy flows
  • Fluid-structure interactions
  • Analysis of non-optimal efficiency point regimes and transient phenomena

His work is contributing to a better understanding of the behaviour of turbines in flexible operation - a key issue in the current context of energy transition and increased integration of renewable energies.

This seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss the research being carried out in Canada on unsteady regimes and the challenges associated with the flexible operation of hydraulic turbines. It will be followed by an aperitif at the Hydro Alps Lab.

👉 Admission is free - all interested parties are welcome.
