Biography

Laurent Rapillard was born in Conthey (Switzerland) in 1977. He studied at EPFL and ETHZ and obtained his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from EPFL in 2002. From 2002 to 2007, he worked in Zurich at Kuros Biosurgery. He was responsible for the development of drug delivery devices in the bone healing department. He was also involved in the development of a new biopolymer used in vertebroplasty. He joined the HES-SO Valais-Wallis in September 2007, where he teaches statics, dynamics and finite elements in the Bachelor's programme in Industrial Systems. As a member of the Industrial Systems research institute, he has participated in the mechanical design of machines for hydraulic projects, the design of aerostatic bearings for a seismic platform and developed a test bench to characterise the rheology of very high viscosity materials (1000-10⁶ Pa-s). Thanks to his experience in the medical field, he is also able to manage projects in the field of drug extrusion.
