Biography

Cécile Münch-Alligné is a Franco-Swiss engineer and researcher specialising in hydropower. With a doctorate in fluid mechanics, she is a professor of hydropower at the HES-SO Valais-Wallis, where she heads the Hydroelectricity research group. Since 2021, she has been coordinating the Hydro Alps Lab, a centre of expertise dedicated to innovative and sustainable hydropower, working closely with major industrial partners. Its work focuses in particular on the digitisation, monitoring and optimisation of Alpine hydropower schemes. Committed at both national and international level, she is a member of the Swiss Federal Commission for Energy Research and vice-chair of the IEA's TCP Hydropower programme. Her commitment to science and society has been recognised by a number of awards, including the Prix HES-SO and The Shapers Industrie 4.0 prize.
